Isn’t it frequently said in advertising that “the best form of flattery is plagiarism”? Well if that’s the case, I am flattered beyond belief!
I was recently shown a posting on social media from an alternative thermography company who has over the past several years been aggressively advertising and representing themselves as Breast Thermography of Middle TN and several other names surrounding that. Obviously this is an attempt to cause intentional confusion for anyone seeking thermography services; especially for those being sent directly to Breast Thermography of Middle TN in Franklin. I have no idea why this company doesn’t like their own name or seems to not be able to acquire business using it, but that’s not what this blog post is about.
There was however, a piece of GREAT advice in this particular post: “We encourage you to do your homework when considering thermography imaging. NOT EVERY facility offers the same imaging quality”.
The post also included a set of images, one was supposedly a sample of a grainy image that we provide, and the other was a clean fresh image from their equipment. Well, this is so unfortunate and quite frankly very unprofessional. The grainy image depicted was copied from some website that had obviously made copies of copies which everyone knows will distort any image.
Below are actual samples of the various “medical mapping” options our equipment affords us. Having this ability affords us and our client’s options for viewing images in several ways. Also, as you can clearly see, no fuzziness here.

When you choose optional equipment it is generally adapted from industry. Do you REALLY want someone scanning you with equipment similar to what your local utility company uses to find power lines in front of your house? I certainly don’t.
There were a couple of other pieces of advice that were left out of that posting.
1. Do your homework on the person not only providing your imaging, but your interpretation.
At Breast Thermography of Middle TN, we utilize EMI, a group of highly trained medical professionals whom have all gone back to school to become Thermologists. You will receive your reading and images within 2 days. This is literally WEEKS before other companies.
2. Do your homework on the education and experience of your Thermographer.
It isn’t enough to have someone “take your pictures” if they don’t have enough education to explain what you are seeing. Although, no Thermographer can diagnosis you, you should be able to glean some information prior to leaving the appointment.
3. Do your homework on exactly what your service will cover, especially if you are price shopping.
For example, make certain your full-body scan includes your ENTIRE BODY and it doesn’t cost you more to have “LIMBS” imaged. Limbs are considered part of your body as far as I know.
