Do you know what your hands say about you?

We’ve all heard of having our palms read. Did you know you can have your fingernails read too?

Fingernails tell us a story about what’s going on inside our bodies.

There are a multitude of physical conditions, many of which we’re not even aware of yet, that can alter the size, shape and coloring of your fingernails. I know this sounds strange, but it’s true.

A few of the most common are:

  • Vertical ridges = poor assimilation
  • Vertical splitting = compromised adrenals
  • Horizontal ridges = stress
  • Chipping, peeling, cracking = general nutritional deficiency
  • Brittle nails = possible iron deficiency, thyroid problems, impaired kidney or circulation problems
  • Unusually wide, square nails = suggest hormonal imbalance

This is a very short list, but the most easily identified.

Here’s a few more hints for keeping your “tips” healthy:

  1. Do not pull hangnails. Cut them with sharp clippers, keeping your hands moisturized will help prevent hangnails
  2. Soak your nails before trimming them. Nails are more likely to split and peel when they are dry
  3. Wear cotton-lined gloves when immersing your hands in detergent or chemical filled water; not doing so will result in split nails
